Unfortunately, plastic--a material of modern invention--has overtaken the world. With bags, utensils, products, and manufacturing all using large amounts of plastic, we've wound up with a huge problem.
Look: Plastic takes an incredibly long time to decompose and most of it goes unrecycled. That means what we manufacture now sits in dumps or gets exported to other countries.
One of the biggest contributors to plastic pollution is plastic straws.
Not only do they take up space but straws pose a lethal threat to seabirds and other marine life. It's sad to think that most marine life winds up ingesting a certain portion of plastic in its lifetime.
But can we do anything about it?
Time will tell. In the meantime, you can see below just how plastic straws have invaded the environment. It might be enough to convince you to abstain from using plastic straws yourself.
